Yelak Biru
IMF President & CEO Yelak Biru has lived with myeloma for over 28 years, having been diagnosed at the age of 25. Yelak’s history of being a support group member, then leader, and finally IMF Board Member cultivated his motto “to pay it forward and carry the baton as far and as fast as possible so those who come after me, so those who come after us, can go even further.”
With Yelak’s leadership, the IMF conducts research worldwide, fosters support and education, advocates for equitable healthcare, and enhances alliances around the globe to further the IMF’s mission. His vision is “to find a cure for myeloma so no one dies from the disease by the year 2035.”
